Yingling works on the Flying Club at KICT with Ortega Aviation Industry

A recent partnership between Yingling Aviation and Ortega Aviation Services (OAS) provides a novel avenue for flying training at the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport (KICT)—a flight club for the large MRO/FBO’s employee group.

As of this calendar week, Yingling will subsidize a component of training for its personnel—including earth school and aircraft rental—towards a private or commercial certificate and/or a musical instrument rating.

"This is an exciting partnership between Yingling Aviation and Ortega Aviation Services. "Putting together a Yingling Aviation Flying Club for our employees has been on the list for a while," said Andrew Nichols, president of Yingling Aviation, in a statement. "We’ve been waiting for the correct partner and are thrilled that Ortega Aviation Services can satisfy all our needs. From rental to discovery flights, to grooming in simulators, together with their modernistic aircraft fleet, I can enjoin you our employees are excited and cook to get flying!"

Celebrating Three Years

Launched in the fall of 2019, OAS owns and operates a fleet of two G1000-equipped Cessna 172 Skyhawks, a G3X Piper Pilot 100i, and a G1000-equipped Diamond DA42 Twinstar, all of which are available for educator preparation. The fellowship offers unmarried-together with multi-engine ratings and makes use of its Frasca AATD configurable simulator, a G1000 simulator, a G1000 Legacy, together with an NXi systems trainer, in addition to a Garmin cross-land grooming simulator.

"We sure value our human relationship with Yingling and are excited to grow our partnership beyond the care of our OAS fleet," said Teresa Ortega, managing partner of Ortega Aviation Services. "Building a successful flying guild to assist pilots in realizing their dreams and furthering the future of aviation in the Wichita community is an honor we are extremely proud to be a part of."

While flight schools' offerings to the general public have been somewhat off and on at aerodrome over the last twenty years, the flying lodge concept has been successful at KICT—and this is because the principals at OAS accept expertise inward, given their background and that of former members and instructors at the Cessna Employee Flying Club, which is also based on the concept.

OAS was founded by Kirby and Teresa Ortega, who have over threescore years of combined aviation experience. It offers non-alone master preparation as well as advanced turbine grooming in Cessna Citations, Caravans, Hawkers, and Beechcraft jets. The squad is well positioned to arts and crafts a flying society feel tailored to a specific business concern, which may be the style of preparation best suited to work on Wichita's second largest commercial aerodrome.
